JOB PURPOSE As the company’s Manufacturing Cost Accountant, you will have a range of responsibilities involving product costing, gross margin analysis, and product-line profitability to provide analysis and leadership to improve data reporting/transparency, efficiency, and cost controls. This position is a bridge between the company’s accounting, engineering, and production teams and requires an individual who possesses a sound understanding of cost accounting, attention to detail, and precise organizational skills. This position will report to the Finance Manager and will work with multiple levels of the organization to provide analysis and planning. The appropriate candidate will be comfortable communicating across the organization and able to influence outcomes by being a proactive team contributor. Education Level: BS Degree in Finance/Accounting or related major; MBA preferred Job Experience: 3-5 years of Accounting/Finance experience in a manufacturing setting (Kinetic/ERP experience) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate or above), especially Excel Progressive experience in Corporate or Manufacturing Accounting or equivalent Skills/Special Training Required to Effectively Perform the Job: Technical background in inventory and cost accounting methodologies Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and present concepts and recommendations to customers and all levels of management Advanced level proficiency in knowledge of cost accounting and cost management (examples include standard costing, production productivity, forecasting, gap analysis) Budget management experience Prior experience with analytical tools Responsibilities: Develops and conducts complex cost audits and cost analysis Supports Supply Chain function for inventory management, conducting planning, forecasting, and reporting activities and preparing balance sheet reconciliations for valuation and inventory reserves Project and government accounting and reporting Monitor spending and capitalization of Fixed Assets Performs month-end closing tasks including booking journal entries, analyzing cost variances (Invoice Price Variance/Purchase Price Variance), determines root causes, and prepares recommendations and alternatives for improvements Ensures inventory accounting is accurate and leads the physical inventory process (direct and indirect) from a finance perspective, verifies cycle counting process and verifies the inventory valuation process Annual and quarterly forecasting of output, spending and other KPIs which includes aligning with logistics, value stream teams, product area leaders and other departments Prepares analysis and drafts materials presenting strategic recommendations to be made to management Identifies data analysis needs and works with appropriate departments to obtain the data on a regular basis Provide controlling master data to project coordinators for new finished goods Ad hoc projects including continuous improvement opportunities to create transparency and/or efficiency in our processes Prepares analysis and drafts materials presenting strategic recommendations to be made to management Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice Job Requirements: Must demonstrate a complete understanding of accounting theories, concepts and principles, as well as a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting standards Ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly interactive environment Able to work on multiple projects concurrently Adheres to tight and strict deadlines while maintaining quality and integrity of the product Teamwork, cooperation, positive attitude and strong work ethic Careers with Sandvik: Sandvik offers a career opportunity with an international company that develops and creates cutting edge electric and hybrid technology.
