EHS Manager - Operations
Sandvik Mining
EHS Manager – Operations | Flexible, Milton Brisbane, Heatherbrae NSW, Perth, WA.
About the Role
We are looking for an EHS Manager - Operations to lead our frontline EHS advisory function and partner closely with operational leaders across the business. This role plays a critical part in helping our sites operate safely, legally, and effectively. It is not about owning safety on behalf of the business, operational leaders and supervisors' own safety outcomes. The role exists to enable them to succeed by providing strong coaching, practical guidance, and consistent application of EHS expectations.
You will lead a team of EHS Advisors, work hand‑in‑hand with operations, and help embed EHS into everyday business planning, decision‑making, and leadership behaviours.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Lead the EHS Advisor team to provide consistent, high‑quality frontline support
- Build consistency in how EHS is understood and applied across our sites
- Support sustainable, site‑owned improvements rather than short‑term fixes
- Coach managers and supervisors to demonstrate visible safety leadership and embed EHS into daily operations
- Build confidence and capability in leaders to own risks, controls, and decisions
- Champion learning from incidents and proactive risk management
- Support sites through audits and inspections in a constructive, improvement‑focused way
About You
You are a credible, practical EHS leader who enjoys working closely with operations and developing people.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related field
- Experience in operational EHS leadership
- Demonstrated success coaching leaders and influencing without authority
- A balanced approach to risk, compliance, and operational realities
- A leadership style that builds trust, accountability, and capability
- Experience working within ISO‑aligned EHS systems and multi‑site environments will be highly regarded.
Agencies need not apply.
To be eligible for this role, you must have the right to live and work in Australia. Please note that as part of our recruitment process, you will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment medical.
What we offer
- Flexible working arrangements, work from the comfort of your own home up 40% of the work week
- Training and development opportunities, from extensive internal programs to contributions towards external studies.
- Company-funded paid parental leave, with superannuation contributions during the leave period.
- Sandvik Wellness Program to support and enhance your health and wellbeing
- Comprehensive Employee Benefits Program, including salary sacrifice options, and a Length of Service Recognition program.
- Employee Referral program, earning up to $5,000 per successful referral
