Sandvik establishes a state-of-the-art rebuild facility at Nagpur
Sandvik Mining, the leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry has established a 2450 square meters refurbishment facility at Nagpur for catering to aftermarket and maintenance needs of their key customers in India. The facility was jointly inaugurated today in the presence of senior management member of Sandvik and the key customers at Nagpur.
“In India we have a strong presence in the underground metal mining and are in process of establishing our footprint in underground coal. Our fleet population has significantly increased in the last five years owing to increasing impetus on mechanisation in underground mining by customers. To ensure optimum performance over the life of the equipment we realised the need for establishing the refurbishment facility that would cater to mid- life overhauling of all critical components and select equipment.”, says Subhasis Das, Vice President, Sandvik Mining, Sales Area India.

The Sandvik rebuild facility reinstates this focus. Most importantly, this initiative is strongly aligned to our India growth strategy that aims to achieve service excellence by ensuring maximum equipment availability and productivity for our valued customers.”
Parag Satpute, Managing Director , Sandvik Asia Private Limited shared his insights on India as a key market in the journey of Sandvik’s global growth . “We have been in India – for India for over 50 years and have been a significant player to Nation building. The mining business area has been a key contributor throughout the journey where Sandvik’s innovations have provided high technology solutions to enhance mining operations for our customers. The Sandvik Rebuild facility is an important step in this direction and that would ensure quality products and improved equipment performance for Mining customers.”
Sandvik chose Nagpur to establish the rebuild facility as it is centrally located and also having necessary industrial infrastructure for ancillary support. The facility has a state-of-the-art refurbishment infrastructure that comprises of highly sophisticated tools, stringent quality standards for maintenance and testing that are in line with Sandvik global benchmarks and managed by skilled team of service engineers as well as international Sandvik product specialists. The setup can presently cater to refurbishment of all critical equipment components such as transmission & torque components, axle gear boxes, hydraulics bolters and some select model of equipment. The refurbished products come with a performance as good as new with a warranty of six months.
Sandvik also plans to establish a Training Academy in the same premises, an initiative to create a talent pool for the Mining organisation (Service) that would support towards the long term success of the organisation as well as increase the service competency standard of the Mining industry in general.
