Sandvik hosts the inaugural edition of ‘Sandvik India Diversity Awards’

Sandvik Asia Private Limited (SAPL) hosted the first edition of the ‘Sandvik India Diversity Award’ to commemorate the International Women’s Day at Sheraton Grand Hotel Pune earlier this week. The award recognized individuals who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in promoting gender diversity.

Shrimati Anu Aga, Director Akanksha Foundation and Ex Chair Person Thermax, consented to be the chief guest at the event. The juries for the Award were Swedish Chamber of Commerce, India; UN Global Compact Network India along with few renowned International organizations.

Diversity and inclusion runs in the DNA of any progressive organisation.

Ms Ulrika Sundberg, Consul General of Sweden said "For Swedish companies, across all sectors, gender diversity is key and they are actively promoting diversity in the workforce. Sandvik is among the most progressive companies and has assumed the responsibility of recognizing individuals, who demonstrate exemplary leadership in promoting gender equality, diversity and inclusion. Overwhelming response

Speaking on the awards, Mr. Parag Satpute, Managing Director, Sandvik Asia Private Limited quoted, “Diversity and inclusion runs in the DNA of any progressive organisation. At Sandvik, we have been encouraging diversity through woman development programs and facilities such as the day care to help women achieve a work life balance. To take this commitment to the next level and raise the bars of the industry in the area of gender diversity, we are hosting the inaugural session of the Awards.”

The response to the awards has been overwhelming with close to 170 applications secured from Individuals, Groups, NGOs & Foundations, Corporates, Academia and the Government.
