Business Controller
Sandvik Machining Logistics is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a global market-leading manufacturer of tools and tooling systems for advanced industrial metal cutting. Products are manufactured in cemented carbide and other hard materials such as diamond, cubic boron nitride and special ceramics. The America’s Distribution Center is part of a global logistics team that serves our customers.
Job Summary
The Business Controller will provide financial leadership and support to various business units, ensuring financial targets are met and strategic goals are achieved. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in financial planning, analysis, and control, capable of driving business performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Partnering: Collaborate closely with distribution center managers to support financial decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business unit decision-making.
- Develop and implement financial models and scenario analysis to support strategic initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate financial performance, identifying trends, and suggesting improvements.
- Freight Cost Control: Monitor, analyze, and control freight costs to ensure cost-effective logistics operations.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis and reporting to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for distribution centers, ensuring alignment with company financial goals.
- Business Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess the performance of distribution centers.
- Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements within the logistics network.
- Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Proven experience in a business controller or similar financial role, preferably within the logistics or distribution industry.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar position in an international company
- Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Strong expertise in Excel; proficiency in Power BI, SQL, Python, or R is a strong asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented, accuracy and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Integrity and ethical approach to financial management.
Starting Pay for the position: $104-125k
