Thesis project: User analysis of document database for technical information

Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions, a business area within the Sandvik Group, offers a thesis project in the area of information architecture.

Sandvik is a leading supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries. The site in Svedala, Sweden, is Sandvik's global competence center for stone crushing and screening equipment. The site has about 600 employees and covers the whole business, from management, R&D and production to marketing, sales and aftermarket services.

Background and scope of the project

When building a database, one needs to consider who is going to use it and then keep track of if the user base, or its needs, change. Our database for technical information is used by several parties. It is cloud based and contains all technical documentation that we provide to our users, for example, service technicians and operators.

The database must be easy to navigate, especially given that many users do not use it very frequently. We are therefore looking for help in doing a user analysis of our document database and come up with a suggestion on how to restructure it to better fit the users.
