Master Thesis: Measure wear on crushing chamber

Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions, a business area within the Sandvik Group, offers a thesis project in the area of measuring of wear on crushing chambers at the site in Svedala, Sweden.

Background and purpose

Sandvik is a leading supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. The site in Svedala, Sweden is Sandvik's global competence center for stone crushing and screening equipment. The site has about 540 employees and covers the whole business, from management, R&D and production to marketing, sales and aftermarket services.

The R&D department in Svedala is developing equipment for crushing applications, including wear parts, which are also manufactured at the Svedala site. The purpose of this thesis project is to investigate and find a method to measure how the crushing chambers wear when installed in a cone crusher.

Work description

The project will include theoretical as well as practical tasks. Examples are:

  • Litterature studies
  • Find solution alternatives
  • Evaluation of selected alternative(s)
  • Find or develop equipment for wear measuring
  • Testing of the equipment

Duration of project

The project has a scope that will encompass 30 credits, corresponding to 20 weeks full-time studies and is planned to start during the first quarter of 2022.

The location for this position is Svedala, Sweden.

Student background

Appropriate education is a Master of Science in engineering or equivalent, preferably specializing in mechatronics or mechanics. As an individual, you should be attentive and self-going, with good capabilities of expressing yourself verbally and in writing.
