Service Technician

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is currently seeking applications for a motivate Service Technician based at our Lae Branch in PNG and reporting directly to the Workshop Supervisor.

As a Service Technician you will be responsible for ensuring efficient maintenance of our client’s equipment (Underground Drills, UG Trucks & Loaders, Surface Drill and Equipment). You will focus on expanding the current customer service base in the area. To succeed in this role, you are expected to:

  • Carrying out general mechanical duties, maintenance, repairs and fault diagnosis work on all Sandvik Mining equipment. (Underground and Surface)
  • Performing mechanical maintenance duties as per maintenance plans while upholding the integrity of the equipment and ensuring safe operation is not compromised.
  • Providing feedback for efficient maintenance planning improvements while assisting with machine audits/inspections
  • Record keeping of parts usage, equipment monitoring, time records
  • Adhering to all policies & procedures, especially EHS policies

Your profile

  • Qualifications in a mechanical trade MUST.
  • Minimum post-trade experience of 3 years.
  • Experience dealing with Heavy machinery such as UG Development Drills, UG Production Drills, UG Loaders & UG Trucks in Mining industry.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft word, excel and report writing
  • To be able to read hydraulic and electric schematic diagrams
  • Strong customer service focus and motivation and determination to achieve targets and goals.
  • You will be proactive, self-motivated and demonstrate initiative.
  • Previous experience working on Sandvik equipment would be a distinct advantage.
  • Surface and underground mining and heavy mobile equipment is desirable.
  • Strong and proven safety culture
  • Must have a ‘Positive Can do’ attitude
  • Must have a Working right in PNG for this role*
