Scope

The Digital Services Technician is responsible for advancing Smart Equipment capabilities and implementing tools and processes to take advantage of real information to improve Aftermarket growth opportunities. This will include installing and maintaining telematics devices, developing data flow technologies and interface tools to be utilized by the Service Department, Account Managers, PSSR’s, Service Technicians, Technical Specialists, Business Line Managers and other personnel to improve Sandvik’s ability to provide superior customer service.

Main Responsibilities

  • To implement and maintain solutions to transmit product telemetry data and make that data available
  • Perform mechanical installations and software configurations on machines in mining environments
  • Develop strategies, procedures and processes to synchronize data collected on mobile mining equipment
  • Maintain remote connections and perform diagnostics to ensure data transfer to cloud and on-premises systems
  • Identify other opportunities to leverage real data to improve Sandvik’s ability to improve customer services, increase aftermarket sales, and generally help add value to customers experience utilizing Sandvik equipment
  • Understand and review current tools available to customers with the view of understanding other value drivers and working with the global team to improve the tools available to customers
  • Assist customers and Sandvik Specialists to integrate equipment telematics data to feed into customer systems
  • To provide training for Sandvik service technicians for connectivity solutions
  • Provide customer training on Sandvik Digital Offerings
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned by the manager

  • Performing Risk Assessments (“Take Five”) prior to each task.
  • Identification and reporting of hazards.
  • Working in a safe manner as reasonably practicable.
  • Wearing the required PPE's assigned for each location.

Education & Experience requirements

  • 2-6 years of related work experience, minimum of 1 year working with Control System Hardware and Software
  • Familiarity with telemetry and implementation
  • Working knowledge of networking and network protocols
  • Familiar with CAN bus network and troubleshooting
  • Familiar with database methodologies
  • Understanding and capability to develop specialized interface tools using programs such as SQL
  • Ability to implement protocols and process to help improve the ability for data flow, whether through WIFI links or via USB manual downloads
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in network, electronic, mechatronics or related discipline
  • Computer systems literacy
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Highly developed time management and organizational skills
  • Good communications skills
  • Ability to work alone
  • Comfortable in a heavy industrial environment
  • Drivers license required
  • Existing Underground safety training considered an asset
