Chief Design Engineer

Our Underground Drilling Division Rock Support Drills Development team is currently looking for a proactive Chief Design Engineer. The role is full-time, permanent and located in Tampere (Myllypuro), Finland.

The Underground Drilling division within Business area Mining is an industry leading global provider of drilling equipment for underground mining and tunneling industry with focus on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers. Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy’s Tampere site is a global technology and manufacturing center for Underground Drilling equipment.

Your mission

As a Chief Design Engineer, you take technical ownership on a selection of bolting products, subsystems and components, acting as a technical and team lead in strategy-based development projects. In this capacity, you are responsible for ensuring that design solutions meet both the technical specifications and the customer requirements as well as our commonality, quality and value engineering principles.

Your background and what we find important

We are looking for a person who have a suitable technical education (M.Sc. or Engineer) and have several years of experience in conceptualizing and designing new solutions in a project working environment. You work systematically, independently, actively and on a long-term basis. As an advantage we consider your previous experience in mobile machine design tasks, part manufacturing and the use of NX and Teamcenter programs. Fluent spoken and written English is expected, Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.

Sandvik is dedicated to ensuring the health and work ability of all employees. In line with risk assessments for the underground mining industry, regular health examinations are provided. Employees regularly working underground must successfully complete a specific health examination before an employment contract is offered.
