Part of our exciting business is the Surface Drilling Division, where our intelligent surface drill rigs bring the latest technology to surface mining and construction applications – we’d like to call it true power with absolute precision!

Our Machine Controls team creates and develops onboard control system solutions and offboard software for our customers. Team provides professional services in areas of software specification, system design, software implementation and software testing for Surface Drilling division products. Team is involved in new product projects and responsible for lifecycle maintenance of current products.

We are strengthening and developing our Machine Controls team and are now looking for a proactive and future-oriented Systems Engineer for a permanent position in Tampere, Finland. We’re ready to invest in you and your professional development. So, are you in for a super exciting digital journey?

Your mission

As a System Engineer you will be responsible for coordinating engineering activities with software and control system application platform development for Sandvik Surface Drilling Division. You play an active role and contribute towards coordination and specification of new feature definition and development of these through personal work and collaboration with colleagues across Sandvik organization and suppliers.

In your daily work you will lead engineering conceptual work, feature definitions and collecting technical requirements towards new feature launches to various products. Participating in development activities includes individual contribution on definition, implementation, testing and stakeholder communication of the feature development, based on set business needs. Being System Engineer is also providing technology support and guidance for engineering team working with control system and software-engineering integration to our products.

About you and what we find important

We expect you to have at least 4 years work experience in the following areas: automation/controls systems, product development and software development. You have general understanding on control systems software development for products, or you have a genuine interest to accommodate the skills and competence fast. Experience in coordinating software development work and creating specifications for the features is seen as a most important asset for this position. Prior work with functional specifications for control systems, UX/UI design, HW component selections, software in mobile machinery and system/software testing are seen as a benefit. You have a suitable degree (M.Sc./B.Sc.) in computer science, electronics, automation or equivalent. As a person you are a self-directed team player with good co-operation, negotiation, and language skills (both in Finnish and in English).
