3D Artist (m/f/d)

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions’ (SMR) newest division, Ground Support (DSI Underground), is a leading manufacturer and supplier of ground support products and services to underground mining and tunnelling customers worldwide. Our division operates with over 20 production sites and more than 2,400 employees globally. Sandvik is a global, high-tech engineering group providing solutions that enhance productivity, profitability, and sustainability for the manufacturing, mining, and infrastructure industries.

Embedded in the Ground Support Division, Edvirt is a Swedish VR simulation and training company dedicated to cutting costs, enhancing quality, and increasing safety in the mining and tunnelling industry. We develop new technologies to train operators and improve production processes. Our main area is concrete spraying where we are the global market leader in training and certification. As part of Sandvik Group, Edvirt is focusing on supporting the whole organization in developing new innovative VR and AR applications.

To strengthen our tech team in Gothenburg, we are looking for an 3D Artist (m/f/d).

Your future tasks & responsibilities:

  • Create new VR and AR simulations and training tools for applications in the mining and tunnelling industry.
  • Convert CAD models to real-time capable models.
  • Create models of machines, equipment, or tools from pictures or other references.
  • UV-map and create Unreal Engine-compatible textures for models.
  • Import models and create materials in Unreal Engine.
  • Build environments in Unreal Engine. Doing layout, lighting, etc. Examples are: construction sites, mines, workshops.
  • Creating VFX for environmental effects such as water, dust, and similar.

Your background & what’s important to us:

We are looking for a motivated 3D artists who enjoys being part of the entire development process, and collaborating with colleagues to build simulations that will change a whole industry.

  • Professional experience in working on the full asset creation pipeline (including modelling, UV mapping, texture painting).
  • Working experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Professional experience with Unreal Engine systems is a big plus, such as:
    • Environment creation and layout
    • Lighting setup and optimization
    • Creating materials and shaders
    • VFX creation (Niagara)
  • Experience with rigging is a plus.
  • Interest in game and simulation development and related topics.
  • Independent working style and collaborative team player.
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and written. Swedish is a big plus.
