The role
In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of our workshop facility. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong technical knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient workshop environment. The workshop supervisor will lead a team of technicians, ensuring they meet quality, productivity, and safety standards while also contributing to the achievement of departmental goals. This role is a full-time requirement working 8 days on and 6 days off with 12.25-hour shifts. (The eighth day will be worked as a 6-hour shift). This is a shift roster, requiring the workshop supervisor to regularly work weekends and public holidays.
Areas of responsibility
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of technicians including, assigning tasks, setting performance expectations, and conducting regular performance reviews.
- Work collaboratively with cross shift to ensure smooth transition of work in progress and key issues.
- Cultivate and maintain a safety-first culture by actively leading safety initiatives.
- Plan and allocate service tasks to technicians based on job requirements and team capacity.
- Monitor projects / jobs to ensure compliance with costing and time schedules including bill of materials, delivery schedules, equipment, and sequences of operation.
- Ensure effective WIP management, and that completed work is invoiced promptly with the aim to achieve invoicing targets.
- Create development plans.
Your profile
- Trade qualification in Engineering or Automotive Trades
- Strong background in managing heavy mobile equipment, ideally with Sandvik UG products.
- Proficient in implementing continuous improvement methodologies to enhance workshop efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills along with the capability of performing effectively under pressure and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and is proficient in workshop management software.
- Valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel to client sites is required.
