Category Manager

Load & Haul Division within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is an industry leading global provider of loaders and trucks for underground mining industry with focus on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers. Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy’s Turku Site is a global technology and manufacturing center for loading and hauling equipment.

We are now looking for an experienced and energetic person for the position of Category Manager for fabricated and machined components. The position is permanent and located in Turku, Finland.

Your role

As Category Manager your role is to manage locally the assigned category and sub-categories.

  • Develop and manage supplier base for assigned category and suppliers to meet set targets for supplier performance regarding quality and capacity, direct material cost and lead times.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders for assigned category
  • Active participation with the team in new product development as well as current product improvement projects to ensure the targets for quality and direct material cost.
  • Collaborating with the purchasing to identify and mitigate risks in the category and pursue alternative sources.
  • Your internal key stakeholders are Product Line, R&D, Supply, Finance and Legal team.
  • You will negotiate and prepare agreements for the suppliers assigned to you.
  • Understanding sourcing processes and global supply chain complexity is vital.

Your background and what we find important

  • You have a suitable degree B.Sc., M. Sc., or equivalent and minimum five years of experience from strategic sourcing or relevant field.
  • Understanding of direct material cost drivers in manufacturing industry, total cost of ownership view and proven track record of cost reduction strategies implementation
    Good analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Finnish. Any other language skill is a plus.
  • Self-driven, excellent team player and able to operate under pressure.

  • You have solid IT skills in Microsoft and other common applications.
