The role

Sandvik is currently seeking a Field Service Technician who will be responsible for service, maintenance, repair and to install equipment for the SMR business. This is a customer facing position and requires strong communication and presentation skills along with a commitment to service excellence. Your responsibilities may include other tasks, than those listed below, which your Manager may instruct you to undertake from time to time. To succeed in this role, you are expected to:

  • Complete repair and maintenance work of equipment and products of different kind at customer’s site or Sandvik premises.

  • Perform repairs and fault diagnostics on hydraulics, electric and pneumatic systems.

  • Report and document results after repair/maintenance work,

  • Responsible for plan, conduct and maintain tools and equipment for service work.

  • Deep knowledge of the tasks, tools and procedures associated with providing technical support to the sales team and customers. Support the customer’s product/equipment/processes by suggesting possible improvements to more advanced technical solutions and products.

  • Take into consideration energy efficiency, environmental impact and maintenance costs when giving customer support.

  • Provide advanced technical support and advice to the sales team. Ability to produce positive results in sales-client interventions.

  • Guide and train colleagues in service methods and tools. Share own knowledge to enable colleagues to expand their knowledge.

  • Ensure that individual LOA’s (Limits of Authority) are adhered to as per the agreed policy.

  • Uphold all principles of Sandvik’s Code of Conduct policy.

This role is a full-time requirement based in Malaysia (Shah Alam KL). Travelling frequently within Malaysia when required to give support across multiple sites, is an essential part of the job.

Your Profile

  • Relevant qualifications in Engineering along with equivalent mining industry experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of Sandvik equipment such as surface drill, UG drills, loaders, trucks.

  • Good product knowledge of mining and construction equipment.

  • Preventative and breakdown maintenance experience.

  • Strong customer service focus and motivation and determination to achieve targets and goals

  • Strong proven safety culture.

  • Proactive, self-motivated and demonstrate initiative

  • Ability to perform under pressure, respond quickly to requests and achieve effective results within given and at times tight time frames.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in response to organisational and operational change and develop creative solutions to problems.

  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.

  • High level of oral and written communication skills.

  • Effective Communication with internal & external stakeholders.
