The role

Sandvik is seeking applications for a motivated Service Technician. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient maintenance and repair of our client’s Sandvik Mining equipment through local sites. As a Service Technician will you also focus on Fire Suppression, you will be required to install and maintain fire suppression systems on customers sites and in the field.

Furthermore, you will provide product support and technical services along with a full range of Sandvik Surface and Underground Mining Equipment in the Waikato / Northland region.

This is a 5 on 2 off roster, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, overtime when required.

Preferably we are looking for the successful candidate to be based in Waihi, however depending on the successful candidate we can be flexible with location.

Our staff provide you with comprehensive training to set you up to succeed. This presents you the opportunity to learn and apply Sandvik specific knowledge and services in support of mining customers. In turn, potential career opportunities include promotion to higher operations levels, or career paths to other roles such as sales, service, supervisory or management positions.

Areas of responsibility

  • Carrying out general mechanical duties, maintenance, repairs and fault diagnosis work on all Sandvik Mining equipment, while Supporting technicians from other regions.
  • Provide accurate and detailed assessments of stripped Sandvik components
  • Identify opportunity for business growth; and actively participate in sales activities when required
  • Providing feedback for efficient maintenance planning improvements while assisting with machine audits/inspections
  • Record keeping of parts usage, equipment monitoring, time records
  • Maintain and install Fire Suppression systems
  • Adhering to all policies & procedures, especially EHS policies

Your profile

Relevant trade qualifications and experience with mobile machinery is essential and installation and service experience of Mobile Fire Suppression systems will be a distinct advantage. Basic computer knowledge and record keeping is a must for this role. Experience maintaining underground Drills, loaders and trucks is looked upon favorably

The ideal candidate will have strong customer relation skills and the ability to effectively work within a team and autonomously, with great interpersonal skills and communication. You are flexible to work with customer requirements, procedures and safety policies. Furthermore, you have a positive attitude and a high level of determination to achieve targets set for customer satisfaction.

You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this job & the ability to pass a pre-employment medical.
