The Sales DirectoEstablishes sales objectives in coordination with the organizations business plan. Manages the field and in house sales functions, assigning territories, establishing goals, and monitoring performance. Analyzes sales statistics to determine business growth potential. Keeps current on market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies. Initiates action plans to secure new business.

The area of responsibility includes Australia, Indonesia and South-East Asia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Directs and manages sales force to achieve sales and profit goals.
  • Reviews and analyzes sales performance against programs, quotas, and plans to determine effectiveness.
  • Designs and recommends sales and marketing programs.
  • Analyzes demographics and determines appropriate manpower requirements.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and develops staff.
  • Advises dealers, distributors, and clients concerning sales and advertising techniques.
  • Manages budgets and expenses.
  • Establishes short and long term sales strategies.
  • Reviews market analyses to determine volume potential, price schedules, and discount rates, and develops sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company.
  • Recommends product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from sales line.
  • Communicates product modifications needed to accomplish sales goals.
  • Communicates new product requirements to meet market demands.
  • Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to promote sales.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily during a 90 day probationary period. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree, at least 8 years sales experience including progressive responsibility.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively communicate information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors, in oral and written form.

Ability to write reports, correspondence, and sales proposals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

General Math

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
