The role

The Tools Sales and Support Representative (TSSR), is responsible to promote the sale, service and aftermarket product support of the Sandvik range of drilling consumables within a nominated customer base with a view to retaining current business and expanding sales. The role will focus on DTH and Rotary products but some product sales and support for Top Hammer may also be required. The customer base within Western Australia includes mining and construction projects such as quarries, with a strong focus on open pit mining.

Areas of responsibility

  • Explore and develop new relationships within the surface mining industry, using your existing contacts to expand your contact base with customer decision makers.
  • Develop new business opportunities including trials, quoting and tenders.
  • Work with the Rock Tools Sales Manager (West) and the relevant Account Managers to adequately service all existing customers within the nominated sales region.
  • Work closely with the relevant Product Support Managers (PSM) on product quality, product selection, supply and performance reporting.
  • Provide monthly business analysis and market activity report updates.
  • Initiate and liaise with the Sandvik drilling product applications specialists on Product Development Plans (PDP), product training, product application and fault diagnosis.
  • Review financial performance on a monthly basis.
  • Control expenses within budget.
  • Continually provide drilling solutions and product technical support.
  • Spend time on drills with operators to understand site operating practices, and work with operators and the Drill and Blast teams to improve the performance and life of Sandvik Rock Drilling Tools.

Your profile

To be successful in this role, you will need extensive exposure in surface mining business development. You will require a high energy and enthusiasm for the products and industry and be self-driven to achieve. Excellent communication both written and verbal and have the ability to listen to the customer’s requirements and be able to offer experienced solutions and be commercially astute. Intimate knowledge of Sandvik DTH and Rotary products is advantageous but not essential, extensive product training will be provided.
