System Engineer – Electric vehicles

Load & Haul Division’s Turku plant with in Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is an industry leading global provider of loaders and trucks for underground mining industry with focus on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers.

We are currently looking for dynamic and innovative SYSTEM ENGINEER. The main focus in this position is electric and battery powered vehicles. The position is permanent and located in Sandvik Turku site which is a global technology and manufacturing center for loading and hauling equipment. Partial remote work is possible in the role, however occasional travel and presence is required in our Division headquarters in Turku.

Your role

You work as a Control System Engineer in Control system architecture team which is a part of R&D and Product Development organization. Your key task is to specify control system features. You will work closely together with the Control System SW development team, as well as other internal stakeholders like Electrics, Hydraulics and Mechanic teams.

Your work includes the following:

  • Define the engineering level functional specifications for the control logics and optimize its performance. Main focus is in control of electric powertrains and battery related systems.
  • Hands-on support for the prototype development and testing with simulators and machines.
  • Leading of control system projects supported by architecture team members.
  • Maintain knowledge of machines embedded CAN- based control systems as well as electric and battery related systems. You may contribute to SW development, debugging and testing. Control system SW is created using CoDeSys (IEC 61131-3), C++, Qt and QML programming languages.

Your background and what we find important

You have a suitable degree in the field of engineering. You may be in the begin of your engineering career or have already some experiences of these tasks. Important is that you have a right attitude and you are keen on to work with machines and control systems. Knowledge of electric powertrains with embedded control systems are seen as a benefit. You have fluent communication skills in English. Proactive and systematic way of working and excellent skills in problem solving will be needed. You are a good team player in a multicultural stakeholder environment.
