Functional Safety Expert
Division Rock Drills and Technologies within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions business area is responsible for the development of technologies, and products and services serving all Product Divisions, including rock drills, automation, data driven productivity, common research and technologies, and engineering services.
We are now looking for an innovative, dedicated and communicatively skilled Functional Safety Expert to our Engineering Services and Product Safety team. Team develops and maintains shared processes, tools, systems and procedures and supports all business area divisions in the field of product safety, product liability, cyber security, sustainability and incident management. The location for this position is flexible within Sandvik sites in Finland (Tampere, Turku, Lahti) or it can be home office based. However, occasional travel and presence is required in our division headquarters in Tampere.
As functional safety expert in our engineering services team, you develop and maintain common practices and ways of working within the area of product safety across business area. As digital transformation and electrification are in focus in mining, your technical background helps you to understand new technologies and interpret global regulations to support our future technology development. Using your knowledge and expertise you support and advise internal stakeholders globally in product safety issues. You will:
- Collaborate with product safety teams in all business area equipment divisions to anticipate, identify and reduce risks for Sandvik products
- Conduct safety assessments in product development and customer projects
- Represent Sandvik in international safety regulations development
- Follow global industry trends, safety standardization, and regulation development. Study markets and competitors to find and spread news within Sandvik
- Introduce new product safety related policies, standards and practices for future technology development, e.g. connected equipment and electrification
- Support functional safety competence development across business area.
Your skills and qualifications
We are looking for Master or Bachelor of Science or Engineering in the field of safety engineering, automation, or similar. We expect your educational background to support your understanding of the functional safety, or you have gained additional certifications in the area. The ideal candidate has understanding of machinery, electrification, automation technologies or solutions and processes for industrial control systems. Working knowledge of machinery and functional safety related standards is necessary to be successful in this position. Understanding on certification and compliance related activities is a benefit. You have more than 3 years of experience in relevant field. You work smoothly in an international business environment with strong networking, influencing and communication skills in English.
