Develops, establishes, and enforces quality assurance standards and measures within the organization. Directs the research and development of the quality standards in support of business cases, proposed projects and systems requirements. Applies proven analytical and problem-solving skills in order to maximize the benefit of business investments. Mediates with other departmental managers and staff throughout the organization to ensure that the quality assurance of our products is functioning properly. Where appropriate, advises on changes and their implementation and provides training, tools, and techniques. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships between Sandvik and suppliers. Uses sound leadership skills to develop, implement and manage the Quality Assurance Department to ensure the production of high-quality products at the lowest cost, while meeting the demands of our customers. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for multiple commodities, like but not limited to batteries, high voltage, charging systems and raw materials.

Education Level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or quality related field

Job Experience:

  • Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of experience in manufacturing and quality assurance

  • 5 years’ experience as a Quality Assurance Manager

Skills/Special Training Required to Effectively Perform the Job:

  • Ability to multitask in a fast- paced environment

  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and database software

  • Must be a methodical problem solver

  • Advanced understanding of Statistical Processes

  • Practical knowledge of Six-Sigma processes is beneficial

  • Must be able to work in various areas or with a variety of products

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Understanding of ISO Quality System standards, as well as the development and implementation of QMS processes across the organization.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, procedures, facilities and equipment

  • Ability to work with, monitor and develop quality performance metrics as they relate to quality KPI metrics

  • Understanding of the use and application of dimensional inspection equipment

  • Ability to handle multiple projects

  • Excellent time management and strong organizational planning and communications skills


  • Provide overall leadership to instill and promote the highest level of quality in the organization

  • Identify and communicate business cases for quality objectives across the various departments and with senior management

  • Supervise all aspects of the quality system, reporting and certifications

  • Promote discipline in areas of the product life cycle, including the understanding of documentation of the requirements, design, validation and process control

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership in the Quality Department

  • Train employees in proper root cause and corrective action procedures and best quality practices

  • Continuously update and improve the design of the quality system to meet the changing needs of external/ internal customers

  • Responsible for implementation of necessary resources and identifying training needs within the plant Quality Assurance area

  • Communicate customer quality expectations clearly throughout the organization, to ensure that product design, manufacturing processes and business systems meet customer quality expectations

  • Challenge the organization to set and achieve aggressive quality improvement goals for products and services

  • Reviews and ensures equipment, material, methods, and associated process controls to assure that technical requirements are met for products transitioning from design to production

  • Selects and describes tailored risk handling methods for the process level (e.g., process proofing, product audits, data collection and analysis)

  • Identify Risk to determine strategy, frequency and/or intensity; and reassess assigned risk ratings as a result of analyzing data

  • Ensures tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary

  • Push resolving key quality issues and continuous process improvement

  • Performs Quality System Audits of a supplier's Quality Management System in a manufacturing environment

  • Implement and monitor the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers

  • Determine cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions

  • Improve the quality performance of suppliers

  • Review and approve supplier quality plans on new part programs

  • Administer, review and approve supplier quality surveys

  • Discuss part critical characteristics and required process controls

  • Conducts a thorough documentation review, ensuring that all information recorded on quality records is complete and meets the requirement of proper documentation practices

  • Assist in root cause analysis activities as required

  • Takes responsibility for safety in the immediate work area. Mitigates hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices. Provides recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment
