Manufacturing Production Planner
Plan, coordinate, and expedite the flow of materials between departments according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities; review material requirements to identify overdue materials and communicate risk; revise and reschedule orders when necessary; collaborate with inventory control, purchasing, engineering, quality; prepare reports. Manages job details from conception to completion.
Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Five (5) or more years in manufacturing, materials and production coordination
Skills/Special Training Required to Effectively Perform the Job:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints to the extent required to write manufacturing procedures with adequate clarity and detail for shop use.
Plan, schedule and prepare job orders; route material pick lists to inventory.
Revise and reschedule orders to compensate for rush order priorities, material shortages, vendors’ failure to deliver or customer cancellations.
Review master production schedules and work orders to determine order priorities.
Schedule workflow and communicate priorities to production, quality, and inventory; liaison with department supervisors to determine work progress.
Review and become familiar with all drawings, specifications, and other documents concerning assigned projects.
Resolve shop problems and build delays with Manufacturing Managers and revise schedules when necessary.
Review engineering changes and work with procurement, quality, inventory, and production to arrange for rework or scrap and communicate related risk to management.
Establish manufacturing lead time on regular orders and set minimum inventory levels including safety stock.
Provide information on changes in manufacturing methods to Manufacturing Engineering.
Provide information on low inventories and critical shortages to Procurement.
Look for opportunities to consolidate work orders and collaborate with Procurement to outsource established assemblies
Supply a forecast for critical and/or long lead risk components to Procurement.
Coordinate with the Production Control Manager to ensure specific sales contract items and customizations are met.
May coordinate with part sales to maintain appropriate levels of spare inventory.
May coordinate subcontract work with purchasing.
May coordinate with sales and logistics regarding product packaging and shipping requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
ERP Experience, (Epicor preferred).
Excel - intermediate
