Our site Gerling GmbH in Halle, is a diversified engineering unit, providing innovative solutions like special machinery construction, metal processing and repair/maintenance activities, across a wide range of industries.

Our precise mechanical workshop and strong engineering are serving demanding customers and include solution and product development, such as high-pressure equipment for marine industry cleaning, the automotive industry and for the industrial segment

Recently acquired by Sandvik Materials Technology group, the site of Gerling have developed a strong presence within the Tube Industrial footprint, enjoying multiple successful developments globally, and is promised to an important growth mainly focus within the global hydrogen industry, and the need to provide tube-based solutions to the industry.

Key Performance Areas:

In this role, you are responsible for the full management of the site, its activities and its employees (around 70 employees). With collaborating with the Sales and the Technology/ Business Development departments of the BU, you deploy the necessary strategy to guarantee the general performance of the industrial tool and its future development, with managing and coordinating all departments in the plant to ensure that Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives are met, and that the safety of employees and the site is guaranteed.

With the appropriate freedom to act, you perform duties as a site manager and you are responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the day-to-day activities, projects, process improvements and/or workload of people.

This role will involve but not be limited to:

  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and all activities on the site,

  • Lead the management team to ensure the smooth running of industrial operations, processes and the reliability of the industrial tool,

  • Manage, coach and develop a high performing manufacturing team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.

  • Participate in and manage the investment strategy (capacity, productivity, new processes) and their performance over the medium and long term,

  • Initiate and lead the changes necessary to improve performance and ultimately the satisfaction of end customers,

  • To instill a dynamic and empowering quality and HSE policy, in accordance with the regulations applicable in the sector of activity,

  • Responsible for the budget for the site and be responsible for the control of costs/losses. Monitor appropriate KPI,

  • Ensure local regulations (incl. relations with Work’s Council and Unions relations) & global group process compliance in all required areas.

Your profile

  • Completed technical studies (industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable qualification), or technical training with many years of professional experience.

  • Experience in leading and developing employees and teams as well as organizing projects and processes / sustainable process orientation

  • Relevant experience in the production of complex plants & machinery, ideally in a medium-sized company

  • Cooperative management style, ability to engage and motivate employees

  • Strong business and technical understanding

  • Knowledge in the areas of contract management and lean management

  • Initiative, integrative personality

  • Serious appearance, professionalism, and excellent communication skills

  • Structured, solution-oriented approach with a strong hands-on mentality

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills

  • Business fluent in English
