Your mission and responsibilities

In this central and versatile position, you work closely with our division president and the management team and advise us towards successful financial strategies and decision-making. You are responsible for the overall financial operations of the Walter division and the legal entity and if you are seated in Germany you are part of the governance of Walter AG and our site in Tübingen, Germany. Furthermore, you hold accountability for our Sustainability Program and the management of Quality, Environment, Health and Safety - where you steer us in the right direction and safeguard adherence to internal and external regulations and standards.

Responsibility for overseeing and controlling the operations in production is an extensive part of the role to ensure cost and time efficiency, as well as proper adherence to company guidelines and other regulations. You establish the framework for business performance management and analytics and ensure accuracy, speed and efficiency in all aspects of finance. To succeed, you take the lead in planning and execution, and you challenge us to set targets and prioritize what development initiatives we need to stay on top of our game. Important items on your agenda are production and operations controlling, tax management, accounting, consolidated reporting, forecasting and follow-up, as well as risk management, compliance and internal controls. You also look at financial trends and possible impacts on the business, and by analyzing data, you proactively communicate and lead the way in necessary actions.

You report directly to the President of Walter Group, and are an active member of our management team and the Board for Walter AG. If you are seated in Germany you are also a member of the Sandvik Germany Country Council. The location for this position is preferably at our headquarters in Tübingen, Germany – although we might consider flexible working possibilities from other countries for the right candidate. International travel is included in your job.

Your background and character

We are looking for someone with an academic background in the combined areas of Business Administration and Engineering. You have a solid financial background formed within a corporate environment and including a mix of controlling and accounting – especially experience in production and operating controlling is required as that’s one of our main focus areas. Furthermore, experience in people management and leading financial operations – both strategically and operationally – is also required. Your strong business acumen pairs well with your skills in driving change and managing stakeholders in large, international organizations. Previous experience of M&As and business development is needed, and so is the ability to confidently advise and direct decision-making at the management level. In addition, you master financial tools and processes and have a strong set of communication skills in English, while German skills are a plus. Working internationally and potentially being based in Germany, you also need knowledge of international and local financial laws and regulations.

You mix an analytical and commercial mind, along with an ambitious drive and a sense of urgency in reaching results and working towards deadlines. By taking the lead and communicating clear expectations, you ensure operational excellence within the field of finance.
