Business Controller and Finance Manager

Sandvik Materials Technology is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a world-leading manufacturer of highly refined products in advanced stainless steels and special alloys as well as products for industrial heating. Excellence is based on an integrated production platform as well as industry-leading metallurgy and R&D operations. Sales in 2020 were just over SEK 13.6 billion and the number of employees was approximately 5,000.

The position would directly report to Managing Director of SIT, have close relationship with internal key stakeholders – Local Managing Director, SMT sales managers, Division/Business Unit Controllers and SMT Finance.

Key performance area:

As a Business Controller (80%)

  • Responsible for the business controlling function in Greater China region, analyzing key performance indicators and developing gap analysis as well as corrective action planning to improve operational efficiencies especially in the areas of cost and working capital management.
  • Responsible for the structure and reporting of the financial targets for each Division in China.
  • Support monthly performance review process, risk management, and follow up selected key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Local Entity Lead for Internal Control.
  • Support the relevant stakeholders on product mix, profitability and customer analysis as well as other initiatives to support business growth.
  • Support ad-hoc Finance/Accounting related projects/initiatives.

As a legal entity Finance Manager (20%)

  • Coordinate and complete all financial, audit and tax related activities of the company with support from Country Shared Service Accounting team/Third party service provider to ensure full compliance.
  • Establish and manage the company’s financial process and controls system and accounting procedures in accordance to the prevailing Group policies and seek to drive continuous improvements.
  • Be part of the local site management team and support the Managing Director in all areas of Finance matters.

Your profile:


  • Bachelor Degree in Business or Finance


  • At least 5 years’ experience in business controlling of which 2 to 3 years preferably be in a managerial position in MNC exposure.
  • Proven project management experience and demonstrable skills in report writing and data illustration for decision making.
  • Work in a matrix structure and show sensitivity and flexibility to the country structure.
  • Good knowledge of local accounting legislations and practices.
  • Experience in communicating and interacting with officials at all levels of government.
  • 3-5 years working experience, ideally in multinational engineering company


  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills, meticulous and customer oriented.
  • Excellent IT skills (SAP, Microsoft office package).
  • A team player who is able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment with strong interpersonal and communication skills while also comfortable to work independently as well.
  • Possess leadership skills and display integrity and exemplary behavior.
  • Analytical, meticulous, self-motivated, resourceful, reliable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills and people skills.
