Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Method’s Engineer to join our team. As a Methods Engineer, you will be responsible for working with production process engineers to ensure efficient and effective production processes that ensure quality products are delivered to our customers on time. Specifically, you will work closely with production teams to understand and define the best processes to manufacture customized solutions for our customers ensuring profitable and quality products. As a key member of the Technology & Planning team, you will monitor and drive initiatives that improve our site and departmental KPIs including key financial and delivery targets. As a professional working directly with sales and, in some cases, our customers, you will hold a strong professional acumen and a strong set of communication skills. You are a self-driven, team player excited about driving improvements in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with production teams to understand and define the best production processes to manufacture customized solutions.
- Define routing of production processes ensuring the production of products with the utmost quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new products and processes.
- Conduct time and motion studies to identify areas for improvements in production workflows.
- Develop routing and manufacturing costs for new products, assortment expansion, and other changes including quotation requests using SAP and other internal systems.
- Write directives and procedures for departmental processes to standardize procedures.
- Use of analytical tools to understand and drive method/process changes.
- Monitor production performance KPIs and drive or initiate improvement activities as needed.
- Collaborate with outside subcontractors to utilize additional capacity as needed to ensure delivery KPIs are met while ensuring competitive costs, lead times, and the highest level of quality.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure product designs are optimized for efficient production.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in a carbide cutting tool manufacturer or related field.
- Strong analytical or problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of lead manufacturing principles or techniques.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Kaizen
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management software, preferably SAP.
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
