The Kanthal Product Area specialises in heating alloys, elements, modules and systems for industrial heating and high temperature applications. Primary markets are the semicon and solar industries, glass industry, chemical and petrochemical industries and many other branches of industry in which a high level of expertise and reliability are needed in the delivery of industrial heat.

We are now looking for an Apprentice Electrical Engineer, keen to work through a Modern Apprenticeship Program to achieve SVQ level, and Higher National Certificate (HNC).

Job summary

You will work within the Engineering department following an approved Modern Apprenticeship Scheme.

Year 1: College based SVQ 2 Practical Skills training (Fife College based in Rosyth)

Years 2 & 3: Workplace with College day release to achieve National Qualification (NC)

Year 4: Workplace with key reviews from college assessor

In the workplace, the role will include the maintenance and repair of production and ancillary equipment used to manufacture silicon carbide heating elements. Working alongside the Maintenance Engineers, you will gain valuable experience in a wide range of engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, electronic and fluid power systems.

Your profile

You must have a minimum of five NAT 5’s at grade C or above, or equivalent. Mathematics and English along with Technological and/or Science based subjects would be preferred. Self-motivated and enthusiastic, you will possess good interpersonal skills and have a structured and analytical approach to problem solving.
