We are now looking for a dynamic and result-based Change Leader for our Production Unit in Mebane, NC.
Key performance areas
In this role the Change Leader will help drive SMS lean manufacturing implementation in the Production Unit (PU), while also managing the PU’s business transformation plan.
Provide leadership, guidance, and training as needed to facilitate identified process improvements, including but not limited to advanced data gathering and analysis, problem-solving, and project management. Monitor the progress of planned improvements assuring timely action, appropriate management support, and the achievement of expected benefits.
Additional responsibilities include:
Maintain a macroscopic view of PU’s business, and be aware of the organization-wide implications of the changes at a team level
Coordinate between departments and functions by ensuring appropriate information flow and understanding of overall process improvement direction
Participate as an active member of the Global Transformation and Change team
Seeks and evaluates information, materials and methods about ongoing improvement activities from other Sandvik PU’s; and adapts them to use in the execution of process improvements at local PU
Participates and co-develops strategical roadmap that outlines the operational strategy and set functional policy and direction
Assists departmental managers to assure appropriate participation and support for planned improvement activities and the seamless transfer of ownership as the improvement activity matures to sustained implementation
Develop business presentations and reports of ongoing activities including accomplishments, participation, projected activities and anticipated needs
Identify materials and related resources required for effective implementation of improvement activities
Support the implementation of the SMS Production System to institute a Lean Six Sigma culture in the production unit
Identify improvement opportunities to minimize waste and maximizing utilization of talent, technology, and assets
Responsible for creating and executing culture-appropriate evaluation tools to analyze production efficiencies and throughput
Uses appropriate measurement, analysis and evaluation methods to accurately document improvement activities
Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner
Responsible for conformance and duties pertaining to the ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards and site certifications, as well as the continued improvement of these areas
Acts according to the Sandvik leadership model
You have a minimum of 2 years of metal cutting or related industry experience in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor’s Degree with Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience. Ability to influence and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Strategy and change management skills. Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, organizational planning abilities, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential. Possess a collaborative and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving and the ability to work in a global business environment with diversified cultures. You have a valid U.S driver’s license and can travel internationally.
Additionally, the Change Leader will possess:
Lean Manufacturing skills
Ability to apply lean tools and principles to support continuous improvements, including but not limited to Toyota Production System, Standardized work, SMED, Kanban/Pull Systems, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma Methodology, Value Stream Mapping, PDCA, Lean Leadership, Visual management, etc.
Ability to compute, compare and interpret relationships and compositions between two or more variables; static and dynamic ratios and percentages; as well as draw and interpret distribution graphs
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and/or write technical procedures, professional journal articles, and process manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, engineers, operators, and customers. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
Project management skills
Possesses team leadership, problem analysis and solving, technical writing and documentation skills; and actively consults with PU management and stakeholders providing expertise in prioritizing and pacing project activities and milestones to achieve organizational objectives within the budgeted costs and allowed timeframe
Data analysis skills
Proficiency in importing, cleaning, transforming, validating, and modeling data
