Kanthal in Perth are looking for a Technical Support Engineer


The Kanthal Product Area specialises in heating alloys, elements, modules and systems for industrial heating and high temperature applications. Primary markets are the glass, solar, energy, electronics, chemical, petrochemical and many other branches of industry in which a high level of expertise and reliability are needed in the delivery of industrial heat.

The production unit for Kanthal Globar Silicon Carbide heating elements is based in Perth Scotland and we are now looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join our Technical Applications Department and help us to grow our silicon carbide heating element business.

Job summary

The Technical Applications Department provides support for our Globar Silicon Carbide range directly to customers and Sandvik’s technical sales network around the world.
Activities include preparing technical proposals, investigating performance issues, designing non-standard and new Globar products, supporting Marketing, improving Technical procedures and providing training on Globar products.
At Kanthal Perth you will join a small, diverse and talented team – on site we have R&D, Process Engineering, Production, Logistics, Continuous Improvement, Quality and Engineering. You will develop strong working relationships with all departments to ensure effective communication. An organised and self-motivated individual, you will manage your time efficiently by prioritising tasks to manage multiple concurrent activities.
Our company has a strong Safety First culture and you will be involved in safety related activities in all aspects of this role.
Your profile

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be educated to Degree level in a relevant field – i.e. Engineering, Manufacturing (or have demonstrable work experience)
  • Have knowledge and experience of manufacturing techniques and principles such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Be a team player with a proven ability to think creatively and communicate at all levels,
  • Have experience in a similar manufacturing environment, however we welcome applications from recent graduates.
