Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Business Control and Finance, the Sustainability Coordinator will act as a specialist in the assigned program area of Sustainability. The position will perform, lead, and execute a wide variety of programs and operational support duties. Under guidance of the Sustainability Committee , the goal of the Sustainability Coordinator is to develop and support environmental programs and implement policies and processes in an effort to reduce environmental impact of the organization.

This role will be responsible to gather and analyze data to identify areas for improvement, conduct research and provide guidance and information to the Sustainability Committee. This position will coordinate activities that will help Sandvik to attain sustainability and to implement solutions against problems areas in adherence with the Company’s vision and mission.

Main Responsibilities

  • Development, oversight and implementation of Sustainability program/initiatives as assigned by the Sustainability Committee
  • Work independently to give support to and develop the various sustainability programs
  • Develop and coordinate involvement in established company events and programs as they relate to sustainability
  • Participant in the Sustainability Committee
  • Develop events that connect the message of Sustainability with other campaigns or projects that educate the Sandvik community in an engaging way
  • Serve as communications lead for the Sustainability Team: write articles about events for website, newsletter, etc.
  • Develop presentation opportunities, create presentations, and support as needed
  • Other duties as assigned. The employee may be assigned other duties within the area of their competence to meet business needs.

Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Work closely the Sustainability Committee and EHS, as well as cross-functional teams throughout the company, to proactively identify, develop and drive long-term sustainability strategies while also implementing tangible solutions
  • Support relevant internal & external reporting
  • Assist in execution of sustainability KPIs
  • Manage the communication of internal and external reporting of sustainability performance indicators in order to support the integration of KPIs in business updates, influence decision making, show measurable progress toward overall goals and update on key program areas
  • Lead the development and roll-out of sustainability training, engagement and resources across the entire business

Technical Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in sustainability, corporate environmental and social responsibility management role
  • Understanding of corporate social responsibility, environmental sustainability, climate, and/or strategy development, with an ability to bring insight on sustainability trends, practices, and innovations
  • Knowledge of collection, analyzing and reporting on environmental impact metrics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management ability
  • Performance-driven with a desire to take on a high level of responsibility and work in a dynamic environment
  • Detail-oriented with a positive team spirit — you are comfortable providing and receiving constructive feedback to help raise the bar for the company
  • Able to work collaboratively with cross-department teams (including HR, Product, Operations, Marketing, Customer Service)
  • Clear, effective presentation skills and the confidence to regularly report to leadership
  • Upbeat, optimistic, passionate, friendly, and authentic
  • Flexible, self-starting, and autonomous
  • Fluency in French, an asset
