SENIOR AI ENGINEER

Join Sandvik Mining’s digital and AI transformation journey as a Senior AI Engineer based in Pune, India. In this role, you will design, build, and scale end-to-end AI solutions that help improve products, services, and business processes across the organization. We are looking for a strong hands-on engineer who combines solid technical depth with the ability to solve complex problems and work independently in a global, collaborative environment.

This is a senior professional role at Sandvik Mining that requires in-depth knowledge and experience. You will use best practices and understanding of internal and external business needs to improve products and services, solve complex problems with a fresh perspective, and support colleagues in growing their capabilities. The role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to enterprise-scale AI adoption while continuing to develop your own expertise.

Your mission

In this role, you will develop, deploy, and maintain AI and machine learning solutions across the full lifecycle—from data engineering and model development to integration, production deployment, and monitoring. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs, translate them into scalable technical solutions, and drive implementation using modern engineering practices and cloud-native tools, primarily on Azure.

You are expected to work independently with minimal guidance, apply strong judgment in complex situations, and bring a structured, solution-oriented mindset to delivery. You will also contribute to technical standards, share best practices, support team capability building through collaboration and mentoring, and enable AI adoption across teams through training, proof-of-value initiatives, and practical hands-on guidance.

Your profile

We’re looking for a candidate with 4–8 years of relevant experience in AI, machine learning, or data science along with a degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field. You should bring strong technical depth, a problem-solving mindset, and experience working with production-grade AI solutions, including hands-on experience with generative AI and agentic AI use cases. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking ownership of complex work, and driving outcomes with minimal supervision while contributing effectively in a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

• Ability to solve complex technical problems independently and communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders
• Designing and building end-to-end AI and machine learning solutions for real-world business use cases
• Developing, deploying, and monitoring models and applications in production environments
• Strong proficiency in Python; experience with SQL and modern AI / ML frameworks is expected
• Hands-on experience with Azure services for data, AI/ML, deployment, and integration
• Working with DevOps practices, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative engineering workflows
