About the role:
Working as part of the Vibrating Equipment team, the Mechanical Design Engineer will be accountable for various projects across the technology department. As a key member of the team, you will provide engineering support on technical design, and project-related matters.
Specifically, you will:
- Engage in the design lifecycle of vibrating screens and feeders
- Troubleshoot technical issues during the testing, commissioning, and operating phases of projects. This includes using modal analysis to predict structural failure modes of the equipment and implement design changes.
- Ensure project designs meet requirements including managing technical risks as well as time and budget allocations.
- Engage in peer reviews to ensure quality.
To be successful in the above duties, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Demonstrated industry experience including design of heavy machinery, mining and/or processing plants
- Practical static and dynamic FEA experience
- Practical CAD experience and proficiency, preferably with Autodesk Inventor
- Prior experience designing high cycle fatigue and/or bulk material handling equipment will be highly regarded
- Prior experience with modal analysis will be highly regarded
