Job profile

As Senior Design Engineer you are responsible to Design and Development of mining equipment’s, create CAD models/ manufacturing drawings, BOM for sub-systems used in mining equipment’s and to ensure the quality of drawings produced by Design Engineers. The job is about providing engineering support to various Division’s within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions in Current Product Engineering, New product Development Engineering, Order based Engineering and Localization projects.

The main responsibilities are as follows:

Collaborate with product and engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions.
Keep up to date with the latest technology trends.
Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers.
Involve in design & developing underground mining equipment’s.
Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project design.
To have complete understanding, Fit and Function of Structural assemblies in Underground Mining Equipment’s.
To involve in the selection of OEM parts and to have technical discussion with Suppliers.
To closely work with steel structure manufactures and resolve their technical queries.
Perform design calculations for design verification.
Develop sub-system designs and make component selections.
Provide engineering support to sourcing / production teams.
Creation of BOM / ECN for release of drawings for production.
Coordinate with Production team to complete the assembly

Your profile

You have a university degree in Mechanical engineering / master’s in mechanical engineering or another relevant field (or equivalent) and between 7-10 years of experience into Mechanical Engineering Design and Development. You have a solid track record of designing, developing Mechanical engineering solutions. You have the needed experience with relevant we see are some of the following:

Ability to develop & design complete systems without expert support for selected market demands in respect to structural engineering.
Able to lead design-related discussion with customers, consultants and suppliers in easier cases.
Reviews and recommends improvements of working methods/manuals/instructions for processes within structural engineering.
Design and Development of mining equipment’s in line with the requirement of country safety standards.
Describes applicable mechanical engineering and technical area and its instruments/methods/processes.
Reviews and recommends improvements of working methods/manuals/instructions for processes within mechanical engineering.
Interacts with others, also outside own team, in matters regarding mechanical engineering.
Strong in Fundamental Mechanical Engineering
Strong in Mechanics & Design calculations
Creative thinker & this should lead to applying Patents for the Company
Strong in material selection depending on the application, fix proper heat treatment process, GD&Ts
Expands the knowledge base within mechanical engineering.
Contributes to long-term strategy in mechanical engineering.
Drives the organization to expand the technical knowledge base within mechanical engineering area Sandvik-wide.
Uses computer-based tools (NX, Teamcenter, SAP, AutoCAD) to design or modify the design of a product.
Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials.
Works as a member of a team to design a complex prototype.
Applies tools and techniques for converting product requirements into a machine design.
Produces concepts for machine design changes within own product area.
Knowledge of International Standards pertaining to material and design processes.

Experience in Heavy Mining equipment designs space with exposure towards mining/construction or heavy machinery industry data is regarded as a merit.
