Master Thesis: SBTi Calculations

Sandvik has committed to set targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), consistent with the Paris Agreement. This is a natural step in Sandvik’s sustainable business strategy, where we can make a big difference through our customer offerings, such as battery-electric mining equipment, productivity-enhancing manufacturing and machining solutions, and energy-efficient rock processing solutions.

At Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions we have a wide offering for mining and construction covers crushing, screening, breaking, demolition, and service solutions – designed to increase productivity providing maximum value in terms of performance, quality, safety, flexibility and not least – sustainability.

Background and purpose

We target for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and have now been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as aligned with the latest climate science and consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement. We believe there’s still lot of possibilities to reduce our GHG emissions and therefore we would like to conduct further analyzes on our wear parts for our crushing solutions.

Work description

Your task is to analyze the GHG impact of our wear parts compared with the complete equipment life cycle emission according within the different scopes of SBTi.

The master thesis is hosted at our site in Svedala where our foundry casts manganese steel wear parts used world-wide. We believe you will get the most out of the master thesis work by being able to visit it often.

Duration of project

The project lasts 4-6 months.

Student background
