Established in September 2012, the Consulate General of Sweden to Mumbai, India has jurisdiction over Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa – an area comprising 173 million people.

The Consulate’s major role in India is to develop bilateral trade relations and cultivate better insights into India through involvement with various institutions and representatives from a range of industries and regional governments. Its primary aim is to broaden and deepen this coalition with special emphasis on trade and investments.

The Consulate also focuses on spreading information on Swedish inventions, innovations, technologies and services and how they can benefit India. It aims to increase knowledge about Sweden in India and foster cultural exchange.

The Consulate works closely with the Embassy of Sweden in Delhi, Business Sweden and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce under the umbrella of Team Sweden. The team helps liaise and increase business contacts between Swedish and Indian companies within strategic areas, such as smart cities, climate change, energy & environmental technology, health care & life science and ICT.
